Brilliant Decision

Brilliant Decision

Here's a good decision:  This morning as I was putting breakfast and lunch items in my tote bag (extra large bagel and 8 prunes for breakfast, apple and yogurt for lunch), it occurred to me that maybe I'm not eating enough.  I'm sure that's a correct assumption.  (No!  Stop throwing stuff at me, people!  I admitted I'm wrong!) What's missing here?  I know.  I'll take some dry-roasted nuts with me in case I need a protein infusion.  Do I really want to do that?  Once you start eating them, it can be difficult to stop.  I was sane enough and awake enough to remember I've compulsively eaten stuff at the office as a means of coping with stress.

I should just measure out an acceptable quantity and take that amount.  The thought crossed my mind, but ultimately time was not on my side.  I had about 8 minutes to get to work.  I live close to my office, so 8 minutes is no big deal.  However, there was no way in hell I was going to figure out how to measure the stupid nuts, find a suitable container and stash them in said tote bag in time to make my 7:00 a.m. curtain call.  So I just left.  I did not bring any extra food with me.

Right about now, as I near the end of the day, the body is feeling terribly misused and has taken the brain hostage.  The brain can not work until some sort of acceptable fuel is provided.  Crazy Employee next door has M&M's.   As a matter of fact, I think virtually everyone here has a chocolate stash.  I don't think the body will consider that an adequate ransom to give the functional brain back.

Pretzels! Never bring a whole bag of pretzels with you!
Once I start on pretzels, I can make myself sick on them.

M&M's are yummy but, certainly not healthy. Of course you know that.
It does sound like more protein is in order.

I wish that I could contain myself to only bring a bagel and some (ugh) prunes with me to work every day. Instead, I usually knock off a half a package of hot dogs (cold, I rarely "cook" them), a whoopie pie (chocolate on chocolate - always) and a half a gallon of milk. Sometimes a quart of iced tea. And this is my DAY TO DAY diet at work. At least I'm not eating out at McDonald's 3 meals a day anymore... :/

My top snack is wholewheat pitta bread, toasted and split and filled with hummus, cous cous and green salad (although, to be honest, at the moment I'm having Doritos, Hot Salsa and Coke. God Bless America!). It is very middle eastern mind you, so if you make it and people ask, I suggest you call them Patriot Pockets or Bush Burgers or something. (By the way, did you see the footage of him totally failing in an attempt to pour beer into a glass at the G8 - what a doofus...)

Sorry for the long comment - my loins are all afire at the moment and I'm not quite sure what to do about it....its all very Liz Taylor in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof"....

I'm addicted to peanut-butter filled pretzels. But, I have a hard time not doing the entire bag throughout the day... So I don't buy'em, then I'm mad at myself for not being able to control my compulsveness. One little nugget an hour. I can do that!

Not.

As for you?

Eat, damn it.

8 prunes....( holds stomach)man I couldn't even have any sort of social life with that amount of dried fruit every day!Prunes really do a number on me.

I am offically allergic to peanuts .So I had to switch out to cashew-macadamia nut spread.
It's really good.

((hugs for you ggirl)

I used to have egg and lettuce sandwiches & a chocolate milk for lunch, last place I worked - until I discovered my tummy couldn't handle the chocolate milk. Oh, & I used to snack on dark chocolate, because of course that's good for you (but I really prefer milk chocolate).
