I'm Just A Singer In a Rock 'n Roll Band....
My stepson turned 38 yesterday. 38. I had to re-count a couple of times just to make sure I wasn't wrong about that. I guess I stopped counting when he was 36.
He doesn't have full-time permanent employment. He has no training. He did not go to college. None of this seems to trouble him at all. He still believes that he's going to be a major rock 'n roll star. I can't believe it.
He's working for the time being, though. It's on a trial basis, though. Stepson has to prove that he's going to be valuable to the company. I take that to mean they expect him to show up every day, on time, clear-headed and to work hard. That gives me some hope, anyway.

Another Gen-ex'er with no ambition or passion for anything realistic. I don't mean that as an insult against your stepson, I am simply stating an observation. For every generation, there is a trend. For example, the 60's were the peace love era and people wanted to make a difference in the world. The 70's were more superficial, but as I recall, jobs were easy to come by, especially union jobs (and homes were affordable with lower interest rates). The 80's were difficult because of gouging interest rates etc., but the computer tech industry was coming into its ownThe 90's were a little more difficult to define, but again, computers were still big, as were banking and big business conglomerates, etc. And homes were still semi-affordable.As for 2000 +... Good jobs (without education) are few and far between. Kids are staying home until they are far older - they cannot afford to live on their own, nor do they want to make the effort. Many of the have no pride when it comes to taking money from family. The trade industries are crying out for help, but many of today's generation don't want the physical work (and without education - what other work will they get?) Your stepson is 10 years older than the group I have in mind, but again, he is still caught up in that unrealistic mindset.I genuinely hopes he does manage to be a rock n' roll star, as when the truth hits him, it is going to be a hard wake-up call. He may end up with a depressing midlife crisis. Whew - didn't mean for my comment to be longer than your post, ha!
