It's Come To My Attention
I just noticed that, when I make comments on other people's blogs, I probably sound like I think I know everything. I probably sound unbelievably self-confident. Arrogant, even, maybe. This is purely a result of my writing style. I'm very fond of declarative sentences and I don't tend to pussyfoot around about them. (I love that word.) That doesn't mean I think I'm always right. It means that I have a definite point of view about things. I'm always open to seeing things from a different angle and, when someone points it out to me, I will even admit to being a bit of a crank.
People who know me in real life tend to think I know what I'm talking about. I think it's because maybe declarative sentences aren't just limited to blog posts. I seem to know what I'm talking about, so people come to me with all kinds of interesting questions. Medical questions. How to determine whether a German name is male or female. Anything related to finding stuff on the web. Spelling and grammar questions come my way very often. Lots of uncategorizable questions I can't recall at the moment.
Here's the deal, folks. I'm not a doctor. I don't speak German. Or French (although I should; I took it long enough in school). Or any other foreign language. And, if I seem a bit too confident in my blog posts, it's really just an illusion. Fortunately, I am always very confident about the number of things about which I know absolutely nothing. So you know, if I seem irritating, just ignore me.

Actually, I find your confidence most endearing.
You don't come off, to me, like a "know-it-all". If you did, you know dern well I'd get all Cutter-like with you. ;)
